چکیده

Abstract Aim To systematically review the simulators that are currently available for cardiothoracic surgical procedures and validation evidence supporting them. Additionally, to recommend several training based on analysis of results. Method A systematic literature search MEDLINE® (1946 December 2019) EMBASE® (1947 databases was performed identify basic skills in surgery. selection keywords MeSH terms were used execute search. After identification relevant articles, data extracted analysed. Results Ninety found eighty-one articles. Simulators (n=24) coronary artery bypass graft (n=22) most commonly described, followed by miscellaneous (n=14), valve surgery (n=13), thoracic lobectomy (n=10), mechanical circulatory support (n=7). The majority models either benchtop (n=42) or hybrid (n=33) modalities. Evidence validity demonstrated 38 (42.2%) simulators. Five (5.6%) had three more elements established only one (1.1%) accomplished full validation. Conclusions recommended supplemental Low-fidelity can provide a broad foundation development high-fidelity be immersive scenarios appraisals. These should utilised early training, at which point learning curve trainees is steepest.

Generation of Pathologies for Surgical Training Simulators

In the past few years virtual reality based systems have been proposed and realized for many medical interventions. These simulators have the potential to provide training on a wide variety of pathologies. So far, realistic generation of anatomical variance and pathologies have not been treated as a specific issue. We report on a cellular automaton, specially developed to generate macroscopic f...

Pathology Design for Surgical Training Simulators

Realistic generation of variable anatomical organ models and pathologies are crucial for a sophisticated surgical training simulator. A training scene needs to be different in every session in order to exhaust the full potential of virtual reality based training. We previously reported on a cellular automaton able to generate leiomyomas found in the uterine cavity. This paper presents an altern...
